| Ants are common just about everywhere. In my area, thatch ants, carpenter ants, and harvester ants are seen frequently. Here are some tracks and signs to look for. |

This active ant nest was located in a well-used athletic field where the grass was trampled down. The ants were harvesting grass seeds and bringing them back to the nest. The hulls accummulate around the entrance, making a mound over time. |

| This is the entrance to the mound above. The nest is located in the soil below and this entrance is busy with constant activity as the ants come and go. |
 |
| This oddly-shaped tunnel was exposed on a trail. The ants had been rebuilding it after an animal stepped on it, collapsing the tunnel. The sorted particles you can see around it are from the ants placing them there. |
