The tracks of a deer are shown ahead of the tracks of a dusky-footed woodrat. Woodrat tracks are more robust than those of other rodents. The pads seem fatter and larger in the track. |

A dusky-footed woodrat built this four-foot-tall nest in the forest. Woodrats maintain more than one nest in their range. They can switch nests if threatened by predators. |
